It was a sunny day in Macerata today. I took this picture from the Art Academy, where 5 of our students began the painting class today. Ten had pre-registered, but students have the first week-and-a-half to drop/add. Six dropped the painting class and one added. The talk going around was the combination of the 70 Euro lab fee (which they were informed of in advance) and the Wednesday morning session (which they were not). I was the main beneficiary of those drops - my class has gone from 10 to 15. We'll see if that number changes over the next week.
Students who had never had an Italian class began today by going to beginning Italian. Those who have previously taken Italian spent the morning taking the placement test to determine their appropriate level. I spent much of the morning in the office

The view is not as nice as my Muncie office (unlike the art professor's view), but the hand-painted artwork in the ceiling (which of course I didn't photograph, but will) gives me something for staring at while daydreaming.
Kim had talked with Anthonylast night just after the Colts lost (it was night here), so this morning as the Ball State students arrived I told them they wouldn't be happy. They wouldn't believe me until they saw the news for themselves. I told them now they didn't have to feel badly because we will miss seeing the Super Bowl: it doesn't matter anymore. Adam explained that they lost because he wasn't watching and they sensed it.
