After a week in Slovenia, we're back in Italy....for the night at least.

We spent a very nice week in our home in Ilirska Bistrica. The Skrlj family are very nice to us, letting us use a house, preparing meals... all sorts of things for us. My former student Helena, though, poor thing, is forced to "work" whenever we're there. She's a translator by profession, so even when she takes a day off to spend with us, she ends up translating between us English speakers and the Slovene speakers. By the time we leave she's exhausted!

You'll just have to wait until I'm back in the US to update pictures. Right now I'm doing this from the lobby of our hotel in Bergamo. It's a town just NE of Milan. Ryan Air uses this smaller airport as its Milan location.

Today we (Kim, that is) drove from Slovenia to the main Milan airport, Malpensa, NW of the city, where we returned our car. She drove well over 3,000 miles in just 31 days. We took a bos from the airport to the train station, then a train to Bergamo. Not really far (total of both trips $9), but waiting for the bus to leave and the train schedule, it ended up taking us an hour to drive from Bergamo to Milan Malpensa (we dropped our bags off before dropping off the car), then almost 2 1/2 hours to get back. As Kim said, though, we had all day to get there and nothing else to do. It was a fun excusion.

Off to London tomorrow.
